Friday’s Favourites: June Music, Film & Book Favourites

On my final installment of my June favourites (yes, I am aware it’s already August, so bear with me), I’ll be sharing with you my favourite music, films and books. First up music because, I for one am a person who cannot live without music. I’ve got it on when I’m getting ready in the mornings, when I’m having my shower and yes, even when I’m packing lunch for the kids and having breakfast. It’s a thing I’ve surround myself with ever since I was a teenager.  I think in some ways, I’ve influenced my girls to do the same. You know the saying karma is a b*tch? Well, I remember blasting my music whenever I shower during my teenage years and having my parents scream at me to “PLEASE TURN DOWN THE VOLUME!!” or more often than not, “ARE YOU DEAF???” Let’s just say, it has now come back and bite me in the butt. Both my girls (especially Miss 12) blasts her music EVERYDAY! Thank goodness we have similar tastes in music…except for her love for anything by Ariana Grande (gag!).

MUSIC

There’s a few on my June favourite’s list but these are the ones that I absolutely love:

FILM

I didn’t get to watch too many films in June but I’m thrilled to say that those I did watch were the ones I absolutely loved – The Fault In Our Stars (need I say more?) and Maleficent, of which I’ve done a review here previously.

BOOKS

With books, I have to admit that having such a long break from uni meant that I could enjoy reading at leisure. Boy am I a huge bookworm. Ask Mr. C, even he calls me that. And I don’t mean in a praiseworthy manner either.

Without further ado, here are my June book favourites:

This is a series of four books, but Book 4 isn’t due until 2015. If you love stories about angels, demons, interspersed with a teeny tiny bit of romance and especially a powerful female lead, then I highly recommend this series. I can’t say much about the story because then I would really be telling you the plot, which has a lot of twists and turns. Basically it centres around Gaby, who lost her brother Jude in an accident. She’s decided to stay in a coastal town in Australia, where the real “adventure” begins; unexpectedly. Be prepared for some graphic (well, depends on how graphic your imagination is!) scenarios, which reminded me a lot of Kill Bill.

daughter of smoke bone

Yet another series involving angels, and this time…monsters. This is the final in the series (you’ll have to read the very first book in the series “Daughter of Smoke & Bone to get the story) where we will find out if Karou and Akiva were meant to be together and will her plans to reunite and make the otherworld not perish come to fruition? The first book Daughter of Smoke and Bone took a while for me to get into it, but once I got reading about 1/4 of the way, I was hooked. Needless to say I didn’t need to wait for the second book’ Days of Blood and Starlight, because I read the first book when the second one had already been released. Book 3 proved to be such a torturous wait, but it was well worth it, to find out what happened in the end. It gave a good closure, albeit some new characters that were introduced and sort of confused me a little.

That brings me to the end of my June Favourites. For beauty and skincare favourites click here and find out what my fashion favourites were here.
